Wendt & Kühn has stood for fine German craftsmanship at its most beautiful since 1915. Company founder Grete Wendt (1887-1979) and designer Olly Wendt (1896-1991), née Sommer, both graduates of the Royal Saxon School of Applied Art in Dresden, created a collection of unique wooden figurines and music boxes that have since become design classics.
The mastery and craftsmanship of producing these exquisite figurines has been passed down decade after decade. Masterpieces that bring joy for a lifetime.
We invite you to discover Wendt & Kühn and be inspired.

The figurines and music boxes of Wendt & Kühn are true design classics. With their characteristic design features and a unique color composition, they have inspired generations for over 100 years – always with an endearing smile. With their timeless design, they charmingly complement any interior decor and never go out of style. This also makes them perfect gifts for special occasions or just to make yourself happy. Whether celebrating a birth or a baptism, the first day of school, a wedding, or Christmas – Wendt & Kühn figurines are sure to make everyone’s eyes light up.

By introducing new products several times a year, we boost sales and present figurines that will complement the collection going forward. Every year, we also carefully select figurines that will be removed from production for a minimum of five years. This “farewell” announcement also serves to spotlight the departing figurines in their final – for now – production year.

Wendt & Kühn products captivate people all over the world. Many admirers of the brand have developed a true passion for collecting. Every year they eagerly wait for new Angel Musicians, Blossom Kinder, Marguerite Angels, or Gnomes. For many the passion for collecting has been inherited and is a family-wide phenomenon.Time and again, people are inspired to give themselves or their loved ones a special treat with Wendt & Kühn items.

Wendt & Kühn figurines and music boxes appear delicate, yet they often provide a lifetime of delight for their owners – it is their sentimental value above all that causes their owners to treat them with special care. Ideals, namely those held by the two designers Grete Wendt and Olly Wendt, are reflected in the collection itself. Both women placed great value on such principals as harmony, childlike simplicity, and authenticity. Wendt & Kühn carries these values into the present and future through their faithful production. The compass for this is the timeless designs of the figurines shaped by both designers – carefully further updated to keep up with the times. A few years ago for example the Flower Children and their friends were joined by same-sex loving pairs.

The manufactory is part of the arts and crafts tradition of the Erzgebirge region – and also has a responsibility: our most important material is wood. We purchase around 70 cubic meters / 2,472 cubic feet per year. Our mission is to use this local resource conscientiously and sparingly and to preserve the natural beauty that surrounds us. Therefore Wendt & Kühn has taken the following measures for resource conservation:

In our W&K Retailer Portal we provide authorized retailers with numerous materials and promotions for marketing in their specialty stores: including pictures and themes for use on online channels as well as text suggestions. You will find all the sales materials you need to make your daily work easier, as well as the latest information from Wendt & Kühn. Personal contact is important to us: our sales consultants would be happy to answer any questions you have by email or phone.

The Wendt & Kühn brand is regularly featured in prestigious magazines inspiring readers to come up with their own gift ideas or decorative creations. The crafts themselves also generate lasting interest, which is demonstrated in numerous publications, including radio and television. Special collaborations, for example with the Gewandhaus Orchestra from Leipzig, bring visibility to the brand in an exclusive setting.
Once a year, we also publish our free customer magazine, eleven dot post, which provides glimpses into the manufactory and contains exciting background stories about the figurines. Various online channels such as Instagram and Pinterest, supplement communication with decorating and gift ideas, current themes, and details from the company history. In this way, it is possible to address different target groups in order to win them over as customers.
